2004 - "Strawberry Fair" (98.2 Mb)
15/15 Film Festival 2004
- Winner of Best Documentary
- Nominated for Best Editing
Strawberry Fair is a school fair held at St Anne's Primary School in
Park Orchards, once a year, and it happened to land on the same day as the
15/15 Film Festival shooting day, where you make a film of 15 minutes or less
over 15 hours. So I headed out with my brother Evan and our good mate Jones to
document this fantastic fair from our childhood.
We ended up winning Best Documentary, which was a real thrill, and we
were also nominated for Best Editing. The film got a big laugh at the Festival
Gala Night, and always seems to please audiences, much to our delight.
Avignon McGuffin
(58.3 Mb)
It was a lovely looking town with very old architecture, so we went out
one night and filmed a 5 minute story that we pretty much made up at the time,
based around some basic ideas described by Alfred Hitchcock, including Suspense
and the "McGuffin". Hitchcock used the term McGuffin to describe that
vital "thing" that a movie would revolve around, usually something
secret and often never even described or revealed. We shot this all in order,
with only one take for each shot.
Later, upon returning home, I neatened it up a little and added some
music, but it is basically as it was shot on a rather cold night in Avignon.

Horrow
(116 Mb)
This was my first proper edited film, and it suffers from being rather
drawn out, but it has it's moments. It runs for about 10 minutes, but one day
I'd like to trim it down to about 4 minutes.
